My one year blog birthday is coming up in May and I’m wondering if I should keep the page up or not.
I feel like I’m not getting the hang of this, and should just stop before I make an idiot of myself, but at the same time, I want to improve myself as a blogger and a reader. I have so many ideas of what I could do to make the page more fun, like talking my husband into doing guest posts on what he’s reading or what video game he is currently playing.
I’ve had an idea that I kicked around with Tim and a few friends that would involve doing a “cookies and covers” type of thing, wasn’t sure if I wanted to travel around NYC and check out cookie shops or try my hand at baking my own cookies for this, or hey who knows maybe a combination of both.
I should try to be more active and try out W.O.W, or even taking part in a cover reveal or two. I’m just not sure how to go about it, since I have a hard time wording things properly at times. May also be why I have a difficult time even trying to word a simple email for ARC requests. I know I can ask for help, but even them I’m worried that I won’t be asking properly.
I know this is a ramble, but at times I just need to put my thoughts out there, even if no one listens.

Don’t give up easily. You can use NetGalley and Edelweiss for ARCs. Hubby doing the guest post is great! I like having the blog. It’s a great place to keep all books you have read and how you feel about a book. You can take a break and come back later if you feel you need a break 😊

I’m on both Netgalley and Edelweiss, but I get turned down more than I get approved. I’ve been having huge breaks since I don’t get that many approvals, and I don’t’ know if people really want to read reviews of books that have been out for months.
I’ve been tempted to start covering manga too, just to mix things up a little.

I think everyone likes all books, new or old. I do. Probably review the most hyped and popular books gets more attention than new unknown titles. I have good luck with getting approved in mystery/thrillers, young adult, fantasy and occasionally womens fiction. You might have to read and review some “read now” titles just to get your profile pumped up. Also, you have to put in your number of followers from blog, twitter on your profile on Netgalley and edelweiss, as well as friends from goodreads. Publishers like to know you have presence in the media. 🙂

Never thought of adding the info from Goodreads, maybe I should add that, I do have the numbers from Twitter and the blog. Thanks for that!!
I also know that blogging isn’t all about the ARC’s just seems that most people care about the books that are on their way out over what has been out.
Maybe I should add a few more genres to my list, that could help too.
